Start With Hello Week!

Tuesday, Aug 24, 2021

We are starting off the month of September with Start With Hello Week ! Start With Hello is an important social and emotional learning program that raises awareness to the growing epidemic of social isolation and creates a culture of inclusivity and connectedness.

Start With Hello Week is organized by Sandy Hook Promise, a national nonprofit organization based in Newtown, Connecticut. They are focused on preventing violence and victimization BEFORE it happens by educating youth and adults to identify, intervene, and help at-risk students. To learn more about Sandy Hook Promise, please click here .

Students in grades K-12 will be taught the three steps to help their peers in a fun and meaningful way and will be challenged to take small but powerful actions to promote inclusion and support students who are showing signs of loneliness or social isolation. The three steps include: 1) See someone alone; 2) Reach out and help; and 3) Start with hello. Below is our school's Start With Hello Call to Action Week . Please review the Parent Guide to learn how you can help!

Students will receive engaging, and age appropriate classroom lessons that educate and empower them to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to bullying, cyberbullying, abuse, and other digital dangers. Your child’s school counselor will be implementing the program in classrooms. To learn more about the program or student safety, visit www.mbfpreventioneducation.org .
