The FAU Max Planck Academy online admissions application opens on September 1st and complete applications must be received by January 15th. Current-year 10th grade students may apply and be considered for admission and enrollment in 11th grade, starting the following fall. A holistic review of applications is conducted, with acceptances offered to the most competitive and well-rounded candidates.

A holistic review of applications is conducted, with acceptances offered to the most competitive and well-rounded candidates.

Admissions decisions are based on a completed application, with documents, including a completed interview. Applicants who fail to provide all required documentation including but is not limited to, resume, personal statement, recommendation forms, and entrance exams by the admissions deadline will not receive the opportunity to interview.

Completed Online Application

Admissions decisions are based on a completed application, with documents, including a completed interview. Applicants who fail to provide all required documentation including but is not limited to, résumé, personal statement, recommendation forms, and entrance exams by the admissions deadline will not receive the opportunity to interview. 

Admissions Testing

One of the following admissions tests is required of all applicants:

SAT / PSAT Verbal: 660+
Math: 660+
ACT Composite: 28

Core Un-weighted GPA

Un-weighted GPA: 3.8 (minimum)

Academic Records are required as part of the online application and are self-reported by the applicant. Final grades from 9th grade, and first semester of 10th grade, are required. Applicants must include a copy of an official high school transcript, showing cumulative GPA, standardized test scores, and all high school courses attempted (including high school courses completed in middle school).

Recommendation forms must be submitted electronically within the application from the applicant’s current school. We do not accept recommendations via email or in paper form. The principal/school counselor and academic instructors need to complete the electronic FAU Max Planck Academy form.

Cost of Attendance

FAU Max Planck Academy is a public school governed by Florida Atlantic University and has no tuition cost, lab fees, or book costs to students. Families are financially responsible for a minimal annual activity fee, FAU Parking and Transportation fee, and an orientation fee. Find a summary of these costs here.

On average, graduates of FAU Max Planck Academy earn 60 university credits by high school graduation. FAU Max Planck Academy, in partnership with the Office of Financial Aid, currently offers the Talon Scholarship to all qualified high school graduates to complete their Bachelor’s degree at Florida Atlantic University within two years of graduation from FAU Max Planck Academy.

*The notification of acceptance in the admissions timeline chart is to be used as a guideline. Notifications can be sent prior to the indicated months mentioned above.

 

Admissions Decisions:

Notification of Admissions Decisions - Applications completed by January 15th will receive priority consideration. Admission decisions will be posted to your online account by early-mid March with email notifications to follow.

We will continue to process applications after the final January 15th deadline, however, priority will be given to applicants that completed their application by the deadline. Although the FAU High School application remains open until June 1st, there is no guarantee the application will be reviewed or considered if submitted after the final deadline of January 15.

 

Open House Info

One of the best ways to learn about the Max Planck Academy is by attending one of our two annual Open Houses. Open Houses are an opportunity for prospective Owls and parents to meet our staff, learn about the programs and experiences at FAU High School, learn about the admission process, and participate in a Q&A with FAU High School staff and current students.

Open House is held on the Florida Atlantic University - John D. MacArthur Campus at Jupiter in the Max Planck Academy Building (HM). Parking is available in lots 70 and 77. We do ask that families RSVP here prior to attending. You will receive an email confirmation a few days prior to your registered open house to serve as a reminder and to provide further information regarding parking and directions.

Unfortunately, due to the volume of requests, we cannot accommodate individual tours.
