What is the School Counselor's role?

Your school counselor aides in creating and implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that targets three domains: social emotional development, academic achievement, and college/career readiness. With this comprehensive program, your school counselors also provide direct services such as classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling. Some indirect services we provide are parent/teacher consultations, collaboration, and referrals to outside resources as needed. For more information on our role, please read The Role of the School Counselor by the American School Counselor Association.
