Apply NowFAU High School offers two rounds of applications annually: the Early Applicant Round with a deadline of November 1, and the Regular Applicant Round with a deadline of January 15. Admission to our program is highly competitive. If a student applies by the Early Applicant Round and is not initially accepted, their application will transition to the Regular Applicant Round for further review and consideration.
While incoming 10th and 11th grade transfers into FAU High School are possible, the recommended minimum criteria requirements for admissions consideration are different from students applying as freshmen. Please review the recommended criteria for admissions consideration for freshmen and transfer students while considering joining the Owl family.
- A completed FAU High School online application includes:
- Online Application that consists of biographical information, parent/guardian details, student questionnaire, academic background and personal statement. All supporting documentation must be uploaded directly to the FAU High School online application portal, including the requested items listed on the application dashboard.
- Academic records are required as part of the FAU High School online application and are self-reported by the applicant. This includes completed courses, course grades, and standardized test scores. Applicants must submit PDF copies of student report cards from the past two academic years. Early round applicants must submit their first quarter report card.
- Discipline records must be provided for the past two school years. If the applicant attended more than one school during that time, documentation from each school is required.
- A minimum of three recommendations are required: two (2) from core subject area teachers and one (1) from a principal, assistant principal, or school counselor at the applicant's current school. An optional fourth recommendation may be submitted from an elective teacher, coach, or club advisor. Applicants should be prepared to enter the email addresses of their recommenders directly into the online application portal. Each recommender will receive an automated email from the system with instructions to complete the form.
- Please note: recommendations submitted via email or in paper form will not be accepted.
- Admission testing is required by the Admission Committee to assess the ability and readiness of all candidates.
- The Next Generation Accuplacer is available at the Florida Atlantic Testing Center.
- Applicants must submit one standardized test score for consideration. We accept only the SAT, ACT, or Accuplacer. While only one score is required, students are welcome to submit more than one if they wish to demonstrate their ability across multiple tests.
- Please note: Students must be at least 13 years old to register for and take the ACT.

When registering for the Accuplacer, you must complete the 3 sections in one sitting.
- Testing fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Appointments cannot be rescheduled without additional cost.
- Candidates selected to advance to the next stage of the application process will be required to participate in an admissions interview.
Cost of Attendance
FAU High School, part of the Florida Atlantic University Lab School District, operates as a public developmental laboratory school affiliated with Florida Atlantic. As a public institution, it follows the statutes and regulations set forth for Florida public schools.
As an early college program, there are no tuition costs, lab fees, or costs for required course textbooks for students. Each semester, families are financially responsible for an FAU Parking and Transportation fee that is used for the university transportation and access roads, etc. Additionally, families are responsible for an electronic device rental and orientation fee.
In addition to the limited university fees, in accordance with Section 1002.32, Florida Statutes, the school may charge an activity and service fee. This annual fee is used to support a range of student activities and resources that enrich the educational experience. Families are also responsible for this fee, which contributes to the diverse opportunities available to students.

Admissions Decisions
Early round acceptance decisions will be posted to your online application portal in late December. Regular round decisions will be posted in March, with email notifications to follow.
Admission decisions are based on the completion of all required checklist items, including submission of all supporting documents and a completed interview for selected candidates.
Applicants who fail to submit all required materials by the admissions deadline—including, but not limited to, the personal statement, recommendation forms, entrance exams, educational plans, and discipline reports—will not be considered for admission. Due to the high volume of applications received, the admissions team does not contact applicants regarding missing documents. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all required materials are submitted and that recommendations have been completed by the deadline.

Open House Info
One of the best ways to learn about the FAU High School Boca Raton and/or Jupiter Campus, in Partnership with Max Planck Academy is by attending one of our annual Open Houses. Open Houses are an opportunity for prospective Owls and families to meet our staff, learn about the programs and experiences at the FAU High School Boca Raton and/or Jupiter Campus, learn about the admission process, and participate in a Q&A.
We will offer virtual and in-person open houses this year.
We do ask that families RSVP here prior to attending. Due to limited space, each applicant may be accompanied by up to two family members. You will receive a confirmation email with event details and directions a few days prior.

Unfortunately, due to the volume of requests, we cannot accommodate tours at this time. Accepted students will be invited to campus before the new school year.

Students who apply by the Early Applicant Round deadline but are not accepted will automatically roll over for consideration in the Regular Applicant Round.
