We are proud of our high performing students at A.D. Henderson University School and FAU High School.  Accolades from elementary to middle to high school abound, and they are not limited to test scores and achievement gains.  Our students excel in sports, visual and performing arts, academic games and competitions, speech/debate, research and even leadership.

With high performing students we also see signs of perfectionism.  Perfectionism can exhibit itself in positive ways, but it can also be destructive and demonstrated in negative ways.  This month we’d like to highlight how parents can recognize signs of perfectionism in their child and help them to develop a healthy life balance.

Did you know that there are three different types of perfectionists?  PsychCentral offers a great resource for parents in their article “6 Ways to Help your Perfectionist Child Find Balance” . In this article you will gain insight on how to recognize the signs of perfectionism, what it looks like in different environments and understanding the difference between excellence and perfectionism .

If you recognize some of these signs in your child and would like some additional support, please contact your child’s School Counselor.  We are ready and happy to assist!
