FAU High School - Jupiter Campus in Partnership with Max Planck Academy Students and Faculty Win Prestigious Northern Campus Awards

The Norther Campus Awards Ceremony, which celebrates exceptional students, staff and faculty on the John D. MacArthur Campus and Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, recognizing them for their outstanding accomplishments over the past year. In this year’s event, students Karis Hong Noor Ibrahim, Saachi Mody and Miriam Rizvi were nominated for awards.

Karis Hong won the Researcher of the Year award for a graduate or undergraduate student who has made a significant contribution to research for her research on the effects of SARS-CoV-2 gene expression on chemosensory systems in Drosophila melanogaster (the fruit fly) with Dr. Jennifer Krill. Saachi Mody was also nominated for her research on synapse identification using superresolution microscopy of the visual cortex with Dr. David Fitzpatrick at Max Plank Floriday Institute for Neuroscience. Noor Ibrahim won Intern of the Year for his work on gene editing in the postnatal mouse retina under Dr. Kirill Martemyanov at UF Scripps. Miriam Rizvi won a scholarship from the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). The scholarship recognizes undergraduate and graduate students who exhibit academic and leadership excellence.

FAU High School faculty member, Dr. Jennifer Krill, also won the Exceptional Faculty of the Year award for her teaching and mentorship of students in experiential research courses. Other FAUHS alumni were also nominated for awards at the ceremony. The nominations and awards of students and faculty at FAUHS at the Northern Campus Awards celebrate the exceptional work that is the product of this exceptional program.
