Introduction to Research

Students in Introduction to Research had the opportunity to hear from Dr. James Cunningham, a Professor in the Department of Music at FAU, about his research as an ethnomusicologist. After demonstrating playing techniques for the didgeridoo, he discussed recording original compositions and exciting ways to discover new sounds through instrument-making and technology for recreating acoustic environments in live performances.

Research Methods 2

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry (OURI) at FAU provides funding opportunities for undergraduate students from any discipline to get involved in research. Students in Research Methods 2 are collaborating with their FAU faculty mentors to prepare research grant proposals by mid-October 2022 to fund their projects through the OURI Undergraduate Research Grant Program.

Exploring Research

Students in Exploring Research are diving into their research interests by splitting into groups based on their discipline of focus – including medicine, astronomy, computer science, psychology, biology, and neuroscience. Each group has chosen a research paper for the class to read and they will present their selected paper to the class. We are looking forward to learning about cutting edge research on topics like CRISPR, the impact of hypnosis on labor pain, and the effects of watching tv on memory tasks.
