National Bullying Prevention Month
by K-12 Counseling Team | Monday, Sep 29, 2025
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and we are excited to join schools and communities worldwide in spreading kindness and promoting respect. As a Character Counts! school, we are dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for all students by encouraging them to be upstanders, not bystanders.
One of the key events this month is Unity Day on Wednesday, October 22nd . Unity Day is a time when we all wear orange to stand together against bullying and show that kindness can unite us. Here’s how your student can participate:
- Elementary and Middle School students are encouraged to wear orange accessories such as socks, scarves, headbands, or bracelets to show their support.
- High School students are encouraged to wear orange clothes and accessories as a symbol of their commitment to kindness.
In addition to wearing orange, students from grades K-9 will take part in a special activity. Each student will write a message of kindness on a Character Counts! Pillar colored heart—this could be a smiley face, a positive word, or a short message. These hearts will be placed on one of the pillars displayed outside the cafeteria, symbolizing our unity in the Character Counts! Culture . We hope these hearts will inspire everyone to take a little positivity home with them!
Unity Day is a wonderful reminder that, together, we can create a culture of kindness and respect. Please encourage your student to participate, wear orange, and embrace the joy of spreading kindness.
Let’s make this Unity Day one to remember!
