March School Counseling Newsletter

by THE K-12 COUNSELING TEAM | Tuesday, Feb 25, 2025

March is a time of transition as we move from winter to spring, making it the perfect opportunity to focus on resilience—the ability to bounce back from challenges and adapt to change. Resilience is a critical life skill that helps students navigate academic stress, social pressures, and personal setbacks.

Florida Resiliency Characteristic of the Month: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

Critical thinking and problem solving means gathering information to think through and determine the best solution to simple or complex issues. We all want our children to become confident, independent, and successful. How we model and discuss what critical thinking and problem solving looks like will necessitate a different approach with different age groups.

Each Florida Resiliency Parent Resource Guide is divided into four main sections:

  • Age-Appropriate Skill Level
  • How Parents Can Introduce the Resiliency Characteristic
  • Practicing and Modeling Suggestions
  • Dinner Table Conversation Starters or Activities

Please take some time to review the grade-level parent resources for helping your child continue to build critical thinking and problem-solving skills using a scaffolding approach.

Spring break is a great time to turn a family fun activity into a teachable moment! Let’s work together to help our students grow stronger and more adaptable every day.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to your student’s school counselor for further assistance. Our team is eager to support you and your child’s development and successful educational journey here at Florida Atlantic Laboratory Schools.
