Incoming Freshmen

FAU High School offers a single round of applications every school year. Admissions selections are based on the competitiveness of applicants, with acceptances offered to the most competitive candidates.

Required Application Documentation

These are the recommended minimum criteria levels for admissions consideration.

 

Completed Online Application

Admissions decisions are based on the completion of all required components, including submission of all supporting documents and a successful admissions interview. Applicants who fail to submit all required documentation—such as a personal statement, educational records, recommendation forms, and entrance exam scores—by the admissions deadline will not be eligible for an interview or further consideration.


Core Un-Weighted GPA

Un-weighted GPA: 3.6 (minimum)

Academic Records are required as part of the online application and are self-reported by the applicant. Final grades from 7th grade, and first semester of 8th grade, are required. Applicants must include a copy of an official high school transcript, showing cumulative GPA, standardized test scores, and all high school courses attempted (including high school courses completed in middle school).


High School Math Courses

Algebra I successfully completed with A or B grade. Geometry preferred to be completed.

Next Generation AccuPlacer College Readiness Test, SAT Test Score Report, or ACT Test Score Report

Next Generation AccuPlacer Test (minimum for admissions consideration):

Reading 265 (Out of 300)
Writing 265 (Out of 300)
Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics (QAS) 265 (Out of 300)

 

SAT Test Score Report - SAT is out of 1600 (minimum for admissions consideration):

9th Grade 500 per section

 

ACT Test Score Report - ACT is out of 36 (minimum for admissions consideration):

9th Grade 20 per section in Math, English, and Reading

 

The Admissions team does not encourage multiple retakes of the AccuPlacer. We will only consider scores from the first two Accuplacer attempts submitted per admission cycle.

Students are highly encouraged to submit SAT or ACT scores in addition to the Accuplacer when applying. While these scores are not required for admission, applicants who have taken the SAT or ACT and wish to share their results should upload an official score report directly within the application portal.


School-Based Standardized Tests

FSA Reading Level 4
FSA Mathematics Level 4
Florida End of Course (EOC) Assessments Level 4

 

Students without Florida Assessment Scores should submit other school based standardized test scores (e.g. Stanford 10, Iowa Test of Basic Skills, TerraNova)


Recommendation Requests

  • 2 from core subject area teachers (Math, English, Social Studies, Science )
  • 1 from a principal, assistant principal, or school counselor
  • An optional fourth recommendation may be submitted from an elective teacher, coach, or club advisor

Applicants should be prepared to enter the email addresses of their recommenders directly into the online application portal. Each recommender will receive an automated email from the system with instructions to complete the form.

Please note: recommendations submitted via email or in paper form will not be accepted.


Personal Statement

Must be submitted as part of the online application. 

The applicant's personal statement should be a maximum of 500 words and must address the reasons for applying to FAU High School.

Interview

If the applicant is selected, an interview will be required by the Admissions Team.

Attention!

A non-expired Photo ID is required of the test taker and must be presented prior to testing. You cannot take the test without proper identification. Acceptable forms include:

  • Current Passport
  • Current Federal ID Card
  • Tribal ID Card
