FAU High admissions selections are based on the competitiveness of applicants, with acceptances offered to the most competitive and well-rounded candidates based on the following criteria.
Required Application Documentation
These are the recommended minimum criteria levels for admissions consideration.
Completed Online Application
Admissions decisions are based on the completion of all required components, including submission of all supporting documents and a successful admissions interview. Applicants who fail to submit all required documentation—such as a personal statement, educational records, recommendation forms, and entrance exam scores—by the admissions deadline will not be eligible for an interview or further consideration.
Core Un-Weighted GPA
Un-weighted GPA: 3.8 (minimum)
Academic records are required as part of the online application and must be self-reported by the applicant. Final grades from the previous academic year and the first semester of the current year are required. Additionally, applicants must submit an official high school transcript that includes their cumulative GPA, standardized test scores, and a complete record of all high school courses attempted—including any high school courses completed while in middle school.

The Admissions team does not encourage multiple retakes of the AccuPlacer. We will only consider scores from the first two Accuplacer attempts submitted per admission cycle.
Students are highly encouraged to submit SAT or ACT scores in addition to the Accuplacer when applying. While these scores are not required for admission, applicants who have taken the SAT or ACT and wish to share their results should upload an official score report directly within the application portal.

Students without Florida Assessment Scores should submit other school based standardized test scores (e.g. Stanford 10, Iowa Test of Basic Skills, TerraNova)
Recommendation Requests
- 2 from core subject area teachers (Math, English, Social Studies, Science )
- 1 from a principal, assistant principal, or school counselor
- An optional fourth recommendation may be submitted from an elective teacher, coach, or club advisor
Applicants should be prepared to enter the email addresses of their recommenders directly into the online application portal. Each recommender will receive an automated email from the system with instructions to complete the form.
Please note: recommendations submitted via email or in paper form will not be accepted.
Personal Statement
Must be submitted as part of the online application.
The applicant's personal statement should be a maximum of 500 words and must address the reasons for applying to FAU High School.

Interview
If the applicant is selected, an interview will be required by the Admissions Team.
