Faculty and administration desire to continually strive to provide students with well-balanced activities and a program allowing for social interaction, community involvement, academic research, and leadership experiences. Our goal is to continually perpetuate within students a strong sense of responsibility, honor, loyalty, and cooperation toward their school. Student activities will motivate and develop students’ ability to plan, conduct meetings, and evaluate their efforts.
FAU High School students have the best of all worlds - an intimate high school campus and a thriving research university. No two Owls are exactly the same, and we offer clubs and activities to reflect that diversity. Among the 40+ groups at FAU High School, and the over 400 groups at Florida Atlantic University, there’s something, or maybe two or three “somethings”, for everyone.
The FAU High School Academic Games Club is an official chapter of the Academic Games League of America (AGLOA). Our students regularly compete against other high schools in Palm Beach County, showcasing their skills in Mathematics, English Language Arts, Propaganda, and Social Studies.
Competitions are typically held on Tuesdays from August through February at Santaluces High School. On non-competition Tuesdays, the club meets for practice in the FAU High School building. The Agricultural Innovation Collective (AIC, formerly the Garden Club) is dedicated to cultivating both healthy gardens and a stronger community at FAUHS. Members maintain the school's garden beds, strawberry beds, and grove while gaining hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture. Students help plan the growing calendar, plant and care for crops, and harvest fresh produce throughout the year.
Beyond the garden, AIC members make a meaningful impact by packing food bags for local families and communities in need. Students also collaborate with local gardening organizations and agricultural experts to expand their knowledge, develop new skills, and support community-based projects. Through service, teamwork, and experiential learning, AIC empowers students to grow food, grow knowledge, and grow positive change in the community. The Chemistry of Cooking Club is a captivating and educational extracurricular program designed for high school and middle school students who have a passion for both Science and Culinary Arts. This club offers a unique opportunity for young aspiring chefs and scientists to explore the fascinating intersection of chemistry and cooking. This year's theme is the Culinary World Cup. Students will prepare dishes from various World Cup countries and vote on the winning cuisine at the end of the meeting. Chess
Chess Club gives students the opportunity to learn, practice, and enjoy the game of chess in a fun and welcoming environment. Players of all experience levels, from beginners to advanced competitors, are encouraged to participate. Club meetings include friendly games, strategy lessons, puzzles, and opportunities to build critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration, and sportsmanship. Students may also have the chance to participate in school or local chess tournaments throughout the year. This program is designed to support high-quality student performances through a combination of ensemble work and structured performance coaching.
Chorus functions as a vocal ensemble and meets twice per month to rehearse and prepare for full-group performances, including the Thanksgiving Feast and Spring Showcase.
The Performance Lab meets twice per month and provides dedicated rehearsal time for solo, small group, and competition pieces. These sessions include guided run-throughs, individualized feedback, and performance refinement.
Students are expected to practice independently using the provided rehearsal tracks. This structure allows for more focused preparation and stronger performance outcomes across all events. Competitive Research
This club will support students who want to compete in research competitions. Students will create their own research project and have the opportunity to work in the MRIC alongside research scientists. Students will have the opportunity to compete in one or more national research competitions. Project funding is available for all qualifying students. The Daily Hoot is a student-run publication dedicated to informing, connecting, and celebrating the A.D. Henderson and FAU High School community. Its mission is to create a unified space where student voices are heard and campus life is brought to the forefront. Through written articles, interviews, photography, podcasting, and broadcasting, students will explore and report on school events, culture, student life, and the stories that matter most to our community. They will also promote upcoming events, highlight achievements, and spotlight the people who make Henderson unique, from fellow students to faculty and staff. All content will be held to high journalistic standards of accuracy, fairness, and objectivity. Students will learn the importance of research, fact-checking, and ethical reporting, gaining real-world skills in media literacy and communication. This club is a group research opportunity for students in 2nd-9th grade. Students work online in teams of 2-4 to research a solution to a real-world problem.
This club is HYBRID with a combination of optional in-person and virtual meetings. Teams will also sign up for coaching sessions with Mrs. O'Sullivan beyond the club meetings.
Each team will enter its project in the national Exploravision Contest for a chance to win $10,000. All students who enter will get a small prize and a certificate. HOSA-Future Health Professionals is a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services and several federal and state agencies. HOSA’s mission is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience. HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, middle school, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs or who have interests in pursuing careers in health professions. FAU High School International Thespian Society/Drama Club explores the many facets of the performing arts through acting, singing, dancing, and also the tech side of theatre work. In the HS MATE Club, students will engage in an advanced engineering and underwater robotics experience focused on the design, development, and testing of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Working collaboratively as an engineering team, students will apply principles of mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering to address real-world underwater challenges. They will design, prototype, build, test, troubleshoot, and document an advanced ROV in accordance with the 2026–2027 MATE International ROV Competition Rules. Students will also develop technical documentation and professional communication skills while preparing their designs for competition. Mock Trial is a competitive club that simulates all aspects of real court trial cases. We are provided a case packet to analyze (civil or criminal) and assume the roles of witnesses and attorneys for both the prosecution and defense to compete with other schools and be critiqued by practicing attorneys and judges in an authentic courtroom environment. Students are able to develop key skills during their analysis and performance, such as public speaking, spontaneous collaboration, legal knowledge, analytical skill, and confidence. The FAU HS Model United Nations (MUN) club is an academic extracurricular program in which students simulate the roles of delegates, serve on committees, and engage in the diplomacy of the real United Nations. Music & Ensemble Club! This is an opportunity open to all instruments with the purpose of keeping alive an appreciation for music and fostering the teamwork, leadership, and adaptability necessary for success both in and out of the ensemble—a feather in your cap (aka, your resume). Instrument borrowing may also be available if needed. Note: volunteer hours can be awarded for your participation outside of normal club meetings. We have host workshops and participate in school and local performances (FAU Band Day, Brass Day, Mizner Park Tuba Christmas, ADHUS/FAUHS Thanksgiving Feast, Holiday Sing-along, etc.). Science Olympiad is a national STEM competition program structured like an academic track-and-field meet. In the Science Olympiad club, students work in pairs or small teams to prepare for and compete in 23 distinct events across various scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, Earth science, astronomy, and engineering. The events fall into three categories: study, builds, and labs. Teams consist of 15 students, and we compete in practice invitationals, then regionals, and states.
